Chris is from Idaho and received a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Boise State University. Before joining us he worked as a plant genetics research scientist with JR Simplot Co. Chris is a second-year Ph.D. student with Drs. K. Folta and V. Whitaker.
Ann is from Oregon and received her honors B. Sc. in Bioresource Research from Oregon State. Before joining PMCB, Ann worked as a STEM coordinator for a regional school district. Ann is a first-year Ph.D. student in Dr. Dean Gabriel's lab.
Johnathon is from Nuevo, California and received his B.S. in Plant Biology from University of California, Riverside. Johnathon is a third year Ph.D. student working in Dr. Matias Kirst's lab.
Francesco is from Italy and received his B.Sc. in Biotechnology from University of Bologna and a M.Sc. in Plant Biotechnology from Wageningen University, Netherlands. He is a first-year Ph.D. student rotating in 3 labs before chosing a permanent advisor.
Joseph M. Collins
Joe is from Deland, Florida and received his B.S. in Biology from University of Florida. Joe is a Ph.D. student working with Dr. Sixue Chen and Dr. Bill Gurley.
Matt R. Dommel
Matt received his B. S. in Horticulture, minor in Biology and Plant Pathology, from Penn State University, University Park, PA. He is a fourth year Ph.D. student working in Dr. Zhonglin Mou's lab.
Nate is from Montana where he received his B. S. in Plant Science and Biotechnology from Montana State University. Nate is a second year Ph.D. student working in Dr. Matias Kirst's lab.
Guanqiao is from China, where she obtained her M.S. and B.Sc. degree from Nanjing Agricultural University. Guanqiao is a fourth year Ph.D. student partially funded by the China Scholarship Council (CSC). She is working with Dr. Brad Barbazuk.
Drake is from upstate New York where he received his honors B.Sc. in Biological Science from University at Buffalo, SUNY. Drake is a first-year Ph.D. student rotating in 3 different labs prior to deciding on a major permanent advisor.
Alejandra Abril Guevara
Alejandra is from Bogota, Colômbia, where she received her B.S. degree in Biology from Universidad de Los Andes. Alejandra is a fourth year Ph.D. student working in Dr. Wilfred Vermerris' lab.
Shaun is from Indian Rocks Beach, Florida and received his B.S. in Biology from the University of Florida. His advisor is Dr. Gloria Moore and he is currently working on the effects of various cell penetrating peptides and their interactions with plants.
Tim is from Malabar, Florida and received his B.S. in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida, where he was a HHMI Undergraduate Research Scholar. Tim is a third year Ph.D. student working with Dr. Thomas Colquhoun.
Scott comes from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he was pursuing a Ph.D. in Biochemistry. When his advisor, Dr. Gilles Basset, accepted a position at UF, Scott decided to join PMCB. Scott is a second-year Ph.D. student working in Dr. Gilles's lab.
Sheldon R. Lawrence II
Sheldon received his Bachelor's of Science degree from Hampton University, Hampton, VA. He is a fourth year Ph.D. student who joined Dr. Sixue Chen's lab. Sheldon received a NSF Bridge to the Doctorate scholarship for his Ph.D. studies.
Collin Le Frois
Collin is from Nebraska, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry, from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Collins is a second-year Ph.D. student who is working in Dr. Anna-Lisa Paul and Dr. Rob Ferl's Space Biology lab.
Peng is from China, where he received his Masters in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Shandong Agricultural University in 2012. Peng is a fourth year Ph.D. student working in Dr. Koch's lab.
Jerald, aka JD, received his B.S. in Horticultural Sciences from Oregon State University, Corvallis. JD is a second-year Ph.D. student who has Dr. Brad Barbazuk as his advisor and Dr. Matias Kirst as his co-advisor.
Camila is from Brazil and received her M.S. in Genetics and Plant Improvement from University of São Paulo (USP), Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz. Camila is a fifth year Ph.D. student who is working in Dr. Mark Settles' lab.
Michael Riley II
Michael received his M. Sc. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Central Florida before joining PMCB. He received a prestigious McKnight Doctoral Fellowship and is currently a second-year Ph.D. student in Dr. Wilfred Vermerris's lab.
Angélica is from Colômbia and received her M.S. in Horticultural Sciences from the University of Florida, under Dr. Bruce Schaffer, Tropical Research and Education Center. Angélica is a fifth year student working with Dr. Karen Koch.
Rodrigo Furtado dos Santos
Rodrigo is from Brazil and received his M.S. in Agronomy from Universidade de Brasilia. Rodrigo received a Science Without Borders Ph.D. scholarship from CAPES/CNPq in Brazil. He is a third-year Ph.D. student working with Dr. Matias Kirst.
Shengchen is from Shandong Province, China and received his Masters degree from China Agricultural University, Department of Plant Nutrition. Shengchen is a third year Ph.D. student who is working with Drs. Pam and Doug Soltis.
Natasha Sng (Haveman)
Natasha is from Singapore and received her M.S. from Univ. of Western Australia while conducting her thesis research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School. Natasha is a fifth-year Ph.D. student with Drs. Anna-Lisa Paul and Rob Ferl.
Lauren is from North Carolina and has a Master of Science, Biology from University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Wilmington, NC. Lauren is a second-year Ph.D. student who decided to join Dr. Wilfred Vermerris's lab.
Yongduo is from Beijing, China where he received his B. Sc. in Plant Protection from Shandong Agricultural University, and his M.Sc. in Genetics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Yongduo is a first-year Ph.D. student with Dr. Svetlana Folimonova.
Austin is from New Jersey where he received a B.S. degree in Biotechnology from School of Environmental and Biol. Sciences and a B.A. in Chemistry, Rutgers University, New Brunswick. Austin is a second-year Ph.D. student with Dr. Thomas Colquhoun.
