Undergraduate Research Internships

Application Deadline for Summer 2010 is March 26.

The Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology (PMCB) Program at the University of Florida offers a Research Internship Program for students who have a keen interest in pursuing a Ph.D. or M.S. degree in the plant molecular sciences.

Student interns work closely with PMCB faculty members on laboratory research projects and learn a variety of experimental rationales and designs as well as how to execute molecular, genetic, and biochemical techniques.

These full-time internships carry a stipend of UP TO $4,000 ($400/week for 10 weeks) for a Fall or Spring Semester or for the two Summer terms. Some adjustments in arrival and departure times can be made to accommodate students’ academic schedules. Students pursuing B. S. degrees in plant physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology/genetics, microbiology, cell biology, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. Applicants are selected in a highly competitive process. A grade point average of 3.25 or better is desirable.

To apply, please submit the following:

  1. Application form (pdf)
  2. Letter of interest, describing your reason(s) for seeking an internship
  3. Three letters of recommendation (pdf) from professors under whom you have had courses and/or worked on a research project
