About PMCB
The Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology Program at the University of Florida is an intercollegiate and interdepartmental graduate degree program that emphasizes understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms that mediate plant development, adaptation, and evolution.
PMCB is one of the most flexible and comprehensive programs and its success is a result of its interdisciplinary emphasis. Individual degree plans range in focus from the most practical applications to the most fundamental problems.
PMCB has over 30 faculty members in the program. They are based in the departments of Agronomy, Botany, Environmental Horticulture, Forest Resources and Conservation, Horticultural Sciences, Microbiology and Cell Science, Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, and Plant Pathology within the colleges of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Liberal Arts and Sciences and Medicine.
The PMCB program offers Masters and Ph.D. degrees. Undergraduate students can obtain full-time research experience through the PMCB-sponsored Undergraduate Research Internship Program and UF undergraduate students have the option of a minor in PMCB.
While it is not necessary for admittance, applicants are encouraged to contact faculty in areas of interest regarding potential openings in their research laboratories
