PMCB Annual Workshop

History

The annual Workshop was originally conceived by Rob Ferl as a forum to give students and early career scientist's an opportunity to sharpen their oral presentation abilities, and to foster better communication and interaction among the numerous molecular and cell biology laboratories at the University of Florida.  Since its inception in the early 1990’s, this workshop has played a vital role in nurturing interactions among the various UF laboratories, students, post-doctoral associates, faculty and staff. PMCB has also sponsored several prominent scientists as keynote speakers from other academic institutions in the US, bringing participants up to date with the latest research developments.

Registration fee covers Friday night dinner and breaks.

Abstracts

Abstract Deadline: April 22
 Include the title, presenter’s name and affiliation and authors. Limit abstracts to 200 words. Abstracts in excess will be edited and may not convey all the information intended.

Please send abstracts to Eliana Kampf by the deadline.

Student Competition

Three awards will be given for best student presentations. Awards are designed to help students with travel expenses to conferences and educational events. This competition is open to all students regardless of affiliation.

1st Place - $1,000
2nd Place - $500

The resort offers a variety of activities from golfing to boating to scuba diving to swimming with manatees. You can also enjoy the poolside tiki bar, volleyball and tennis courts or relax in the spa.

The PMCB group rate is $109 (25 rooms are blocked for Thursday, 35 rooms for Friday and 8 rooms for Saturday). Please make your reservations directly through the hotel. Mention that you are with the PMCB Program at UF. The group rate and rooms may not be available after the April 17 deadline.

*Special Golf Rate*

The PMCB special golf rate for Thursday is $25 and for Friday through Sunday is $30. The fee includes 18 holes, cart fee and tax. Please mention you are with the PMCB/UF group.
